The Anglican Parish of Casino

A Parish of The Diocese of Grafton incorporating St Mark's Anglican Church Casino and The Church of Our Lady in Bonalbo

St Mark’s Parish Debutante Ball – 8 September 2018

Seven debutantes, their partners, two senior maids, a flower girl and page boy, and two junior maids were presented to Richmond Valley Councilor Sam Cornish and the Rector of Casino, Rev Canon Judy Edwards, by Matron of Honour, Pam Sullivan. Guests enjoyed a sit down meal and danced on late into the evening.

Easter Sunday saw the lighting of the Pascal Candle and the church come back to life with the renewal of our baptism vows and the celebration of the resurrection. There was a large group of parishioners, both local and some visitors, lots of candles and much beautiful singing. St Mark's hopes that you and your family had a holy and blessed Easter.

Today we had the liturgy of Good Friday. The Easter Cross draped in red really brought to the heart the true meaning of the day. Parishioners were invited to kneel at the foot of the cross in silent prayer. It was quite striking sitting in front of the stripped and bare altar.

The bare altar with the chalice laying on its side in the center after communion.

The beginnings of our Easter garden this year were provided by Dick and Leila with an open invitation to congregation to build the garden with their contributions during Holy week.

Thank you everyone for your efforts.

Today was the celebration of Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week. The altar and Church were adorned in Palm Leaves and red was the colour of the day.

Unfortunately wet weather during the week put a bit of a dampener on the start of the 7.00 am service as it was too wet under foot to process around the church with our palms. However at the 9.00 service the palms were held high as we sang our way from the pergola through the courtyard then down the main street back to the church.

Rev Cannon Judy led a moving and inspirational service challenging us to take the journey into Holy week without putting our own expectations on God.

Please note the dates and times for the services during Holy week and Easter day. We welcome and would love to see all members of the community that would like to join us over the Easter period.

Many blessings for the Season.
